GROUP FORMATION
Group formation activities
Creating groups in a workshop should be both easy and quick without removing focus from the purpose of the workshop. You can also make it fun by gamifying it and then you might not need a separate warm-up game. When working in groups, it is important to change the groups between exercises and to work in groups of varying sizes to ensure the best flow in the workshop. Below, a few simple ideas for group formation are explained.
COLORED POST-ITS
Prepare a number of colored post-its in a bag, consistent with the number of participants and the desired number of groups and ask the participants to select a post-it. The participants with the same color of post-its will be in the same group.

ROW
Ask the participants to make a row after a quality/preference. Consider appropriateness and privacy when choosing the topic, and avoid topics that put people into uncomfortable situations. When there is a row, simply make a count to the desired number of groups.

DRAW
Ask the participants to write their name on a piece of paper, collect them all in a hat (a bag or a box is just as good but not as stylish) and draw the groups from this.

GIVE A NUMBER
Keep it super simple with numbers. Make a traditional count to the desired amount of groups, or give everyone their own unique number and put all odd and even numbers in own groups.
